Radicals are typically highly reactive species that can undergo a multitude of reaction pathways. The tryptophan indole side chain acts as important radical centers in biomolecules, particularly proteins. Infrared Spectroscopy technique combined with Mass spectroscopy is applied to identify the structure of the mass-selected radical ions in gas phase.
